From the Centre: All roads leads to community complex

Way back in the design stage, long, long ago, someone had made the statement that when the project was completed, the Creston and District Community Complex would be the hub of the community. That can mean a lot of things — there are many organizations and groups in the community that form their own “hubs”, whether it is art or music or public speaking, but I know for sure that we are the hub of the community as far as BC Transit is concerned. This is the Life: Rotarian offers good advice

The magazine I’ve been reading for the past few days, mostly over breakfast, has been publishing for 100 years. Among its contributors have been Jesse Owens, J.C. Penney, Babe Ruth, Carl Sagan, Albert Schweitzer, Scott Turow, Kurt Vonnegut and Winston Churchill. The New Yorker? Life? Time? No, The Rotarian.

We followed Cranbrook’s lead and starting last Saturday are offering three e-reader training sessions with our tech staff. The session starts at 1 p.m.

The Voice of Experience: Story of a lifetime

I was born in June 1920 in my grandmother’s house in Piapot, Sask. For as long as I can remember, Daddy was determined to move somewhere where the wind didn’t blow. Finally, in 1935, our old Model-T Ford truck was loaded up with everything we could carry. The last few pieces of farm equipment and our cows and horses were sold by auction.
