Vance Markus Nevalainen became the Creston Valley’s first baby born in 2014 when he made his way into the world at 8:40 p.m. Jan. 14.
Delivered at home by a midwife and weighing seven pounds, seven ounces, Vance is a little brother for two-and-a-half-year-old Brooke, pictured above with their parents, Karla and Bob.
Vance was born nine day's later than last year's first baby, Adeline Elyse Dahlia Wassink, who was born on Jan. 5, 2013, to Micah and Jeremiah Wassink.
