Our community was given examples of great generosity by some of our local businesses on the weekend. Overwaitea administration and staff provided all of the food (some homemade and all very good) and people-power for a fund-raiser on Saturday to benefit the Trails Society and their efforts to develop the Char Creek Cedar Grove.
Bonnie Geddes arranged a public live-streaming of the CBC filming of the final concert given by the iconic Canadian band, the Tragically Hip. She offered her theatre and her staff to allow us all an opportunity to view the event for free on a big screen, with a cheering audience. Donations were taken for cancer research.
Both of these businesses dedicated their resources and energy for the good of the community. Hats off to all involved. (Perhaps one of Gordon Downie's great hats!)
