Hard to believe it has been 5 years since we started the Health and Wellness Fair but here we are with Saturday November 4th marking this auspicious event once again at the Community Complex. The event gets more refined each year; this one with more than 30 vendors with health related materials and knowledge to share as well as an opportunity to get flu and tetanus shots as well as blood pressure and glucose readings. You’ll be so healthy by the time you leave, you won’t recognize yourself!

What’s this going to cost me to acquire this vast Wikipedia of knowledge, you ask? Well, it’s actually one of those great deals you should take advantage of – for entry to the Fair (adults $3, Students/seniors $2, children 7-13 years $1) you get a wristband which also provides the day’s admission to the pool, fitness area and arena during public times. So you were coming swimming or working out anyway? Why not come a bit earlier and spend some time checking out the displays or attending one of our speaker’s sessions.

Always well attended and super informative, our speakers this year include Joanne Gailius, BSR/PT/OT talking about Women’s Health, Maya Skalinska, MH/RHT discussing Nutrition for Perfect Health, Dr. Kim Masuch, ND speaking about Your Healthy Pregnancy, and Ron Miles, PT talking about an exercise/education program for hip/knee osteoarthritis symptoms. This year we also have Cate Baio, Certified Professional Coach, doing a workshop series on making lifestyle changes easier in a sustainable manner. She will cover Successful Goal Setting, Take Action & Stop Procrastinating, Trust the Journey and Overcoming Obstacles & Setbacks. All these sessions run during the Fair between 10 am and 3:30 pm so check posters at the Community Complex or our Facebook page for actual times of each.

Other cool things happening are a Fitness Challenge starting at 11 am where you can try our obstacle course in the Studio with prizes for the best time in your age category. (I would but I feel my old football injury starting to flare up…) You can pre-register for that event or sign up in the studio. As well, we have a Kids Korner for ages 2 – 6 years with crafts and games for their entertainment while you check out the Fair (because you know how engaged they would be learning about bone health and proper nutrition choices plus your blood pressure reading by that point would scare the practitioners…)

So, we would love to see you down here for the Fair and guaranteed, you will take some knowledge away to improve your health or outlook in some manner. As Gandhi stated: It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
