99 years and counting. The Creston Valley Fall Fair takes over the Community Complex this Friday and Saturday to show off our rural roots and the bounty that only one of Canada’s best growing areas can provide. Who will grow the biggest pumpkin? Who will bake the best apple pie? Whose weeks of hard work will pay off with the most ribbons? Which baby will be chosen as the cutest? Those questions, and many more, will be answered this Friday and Saturday when the 2017 Fall Fair opens its doors. Visitors on Friday get a chance to bid on some great items and at the same time help out a young scholar when the Creston Valley Agricultural Society puts on its annual auction to raise funds or a bursary. Fresh produce will be among the array of goodies for a great cause. And once again the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market supports the fair by moving to the Community Complex parking lot on Saturday morning, giving visitors a chance to do some shopping before they head home. Children from 5 to 10 years of age can get in on the action by entering the pedal tractor pull that will be set outside. But entertainment and other activities aside, it’s the myriad of entries, from livestock and poultry to flowers to wine and preserves to flowers, fruits and vegetables that draws the crowds. No more proof is needed that the Creston Valley is indeed a bountiful place. The Fall Fair is open on Friday from 2 – 9 pm and Saturday from 9 am – 4:30 pm.
