Creston RCMP responded to 59 calls for assistance, including several unwanted guests at residences, from November 7-13, Cpl. Darren Kakuno said on Tuesday.

November 7

• An uninjured driver had left the scene when police arrived in response to a report that a vehicle went off Highway 3 west of Jordan’s cabin. The investigation continues.

November 8

• A collision at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and Pine Street was caused by a driver who ran a red light. He was issued a ticket.

• RCMP members were unable to locate two males reported to be sneaking around properties in the area around 11th Avenue South and Cook Street. Police advise residents to ensure that their vehicles and properties are locked when not in use.

November 9

• Police are investigating a break and entry at a Boswell residence.

• No injuries were reported when a driver went into the ditch and a snowbank on Highway 3 in Yahk. The vehicle had to be towed.

• When police stopped a vehicle on Highway 21 that had an illegal licence plate cover they found it was in the control of a prohibited driver. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver faces charges.

November 10

• Yet another Creston resident has become the victim of a telephone scam. A woman received a call that she had won $3 million and was eventually talked into providing her personal banking information, which led to her loss of several thousand dollars. The investigation continues.

• Police were unable to locate three teens reported to be knocking on doors in the 6th Avenue North area.

• A road check on Northwest Boulevard led to a driver failing a roadside screening test and earning a three-day driving prohibition.

• A vehicle stopped on Highway 21 for a traffic offense was found to have a passenger who had conditions to have no contact with the driver. The passenger was arrested for breaching a recognizance.

November 11

• Several local RCMP members, along with retired Inspector Rob Morrison, participated in the Remembrance Day ceremonies on 11th Avenue North.

• A person causing a disturbance in a Kitchener residence was gone when police arrived. The investigation continues.

• A male from Cranbrook was arrested in Creston on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. He was later released with a court date set for Cranbrook.

• A reported unwanted guest at a Vancouver Street residence had left before police arrived.

November 12

• An intoxicated male was arrested for an assault at a 6th Avenue North residence and held in cells until sober.

• An intoxicated male was arrested for breach of peace after threatening a police officer that responded to a complaint of an unwanted guest on 8th Avenue South. He was held in cells until sober.

• A possible arson attempt was reported when a 9th Avenue South resident found the gas cap removed from his truck and a rag sticking out of the fill tube. Evidence indicates an attempt to set the vehicle on fire. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Creston RCMP or Crimestoppers.

• Police are investigating a report of a gas and dash at a Yahk service station.

November 13

• A Putnam Road resident reported finding a stolen boat and trailer parked in his field. The boat had been taken from a Boswell property and it has been returned to the owner.
