Rototilling naked male told to put some clothes on by Creston RCMP

Creston RCMP members had their busiest week of the year.

With a long weekend and beautiful travelling weather Creston RCMP members had their busiest week of the year, responding to 89 calls from May 16-22, Sgt. Dave Nassichuk said on Tuesday.

May 16

• A 20’’ orange and white chainsaw was lost when it fell off a truck on 11th Avenue North.

• A Honda 50 cc scooter was found in Kitchener.

• Ammunition was turned into the police station for destruction.

• A tent reported to be pitched near the walking trail south of Cook Street was gone when police checked.

• An Idaho vehicle collided with a small bear cub on Highway 21 South. The cub was killed.

May 17

• A vehicle nearly went off Highway 3 near Frenchman’s Slough when it swerved to avoid an animal.

• A reported possible impaired driver near Yahk was found not to be impaired when located by police. He said the trailer he was pulling had a mechanical problem.

• A dash-mounted stereo was stolen from a vehicle at an RV park in Yahk.

• A driver stopped in Yahk was found to be driving while prohibited, for the second time in recent months. The vehicle was impounded and charges are pending.

May 18

• A resident reported that a vehicle that pulled into the driveway to turn around was suspicious.

• Passing a stopped school bus displaying flashing lights earned a driver a violation ticket.

• A naked male who was rototilling his garden was advised to put some clothes on.

• A report of a possibly impaired driver near Gray Creek was referred to Nelson and Kaslo police.

• An abusive patient at the hospital was asked to leave.

May 19

• Police were unable to locate a truck pulling a trailer that cut off a vehicle on Highway 3.

• A dirt bike was reported stolen from a Railway Boulevard residence.

• An elderly female driver was stopped after a complaint that she was driving at 20 km per hour and failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Police have sent a letter requesting her driving ability be retested.

• An orange Lamborghini reported to be passing on double solid lines and speeding near Yahk was not located.

• A vehicle collided with a deer on Highway 3A near Kuskanook.

May 20

• Two males yelling at each other on 7th Avenue North were visited by police and the issue was resolved.

• Two youths found a VISA card on Canyon Street and turned it over to police, who returned it to the owner.

• When police responded to a report of a dog in a hot vehicle in the 1100 block of Canyon Street they removed the animal. The owner returned and said he wasn’t gone for long. He got a ticket for parking in a handicapped zone.

• A motorhome driver who sped off when signaled by police to pull over in Kitchener was located the next day and issued “numerous” tickets for the indiscretion.

• A stop check on Canyon-Lister Road near midnight resulted in four violation tickets being issued.

May 21

• A stop check at Northwest Boulevard and Canyon Street did not find any infractions.

• A tree fell onto Highway 3A near Armstrong Road, blocking traffic until it was removed.

• A warning letter has been sent to the owner of an Alberta vehicle reported to be driving in excess of 140 km per hour on Highway 3/95 near Kingsgate.

• A yellow vehicle reported to be stunting on Pit Road in Lister was not located.

• A driver swerved to avoid a deer on Reclamation Road and went off the road, striking a tree.

• Police located a female driver reported to be possibly impaired near the Kuskonook boat launch, but found no evidence of liquor consumption.

• A black truck reported to be stunting on Huscroft Road was not located.

• Dirt bikers reported to be driving on Elsie Holmes Road were located at the gravel pit and warned about driving on public roads.

• A vehicle was stopped on Highway 3A near Wynndel for having no taillights on. The driver was given a ticket for having no insurance.

• A report of a slashed tire on a vehicle parked behind a Creston hotel is being investigated.

May 22

• A dog that mauled chickens on Plascko Road was taken to PAWS.

• Five gallons of pesticide and a 25-gallon spray tank were stolen from a Lister shed sometime since last fall.

• A vehicle making a right turn on Highway 3 in Erickson collided with another vehicle that was attempting to pass it on the right.

• An unattended fire in Kitchener burnt the front yard of a mobile home before it was extinguished. The resident said he thought the fire was out.

• Rocks and sticks were reported on the rail tracks in Yahk, but were gone when CPR police arrived.
