Elk Valley, Cranbrook, Kimberley and Creston child care facilities receive CBT funding

A number of child care facilities in the East Kootenay have received Columbia Basin Trust funding for a variety of projects.

Facilities will use the funding for buying children’s furniture, specialized learning equipment to support children with special needs, improve health and safety, including fences, shade structures or improving washrooms.

Funding recipients include:

Cranbrook Boys and Girls Club- $7,000 to purchase indoor play equipment

Cranbrook Christian School Society - $6,930 for outdoor play equipment

Cranbrook Huddles and Cuddles Play Centre - $7,000 for indoor lay equipment and storage units

Little Stubbies Learning Centre - $795 for outdoor play equipment

Momentum Child Care Cranbrook - $4,600 outdoor play equipment and more

Precious Time Child Care Cranbrook - $7,000 for indoor and outdoor play equipment, furniture, shade sails and storage sheds

Summit Community Services - $5,544 for indoor and outdoor play equipment

Summit Community Services - $4,336 for tables, cubbies and dishwasher for Kids Club Afterschool Program

Tot’s Spot Cranbrook - $2,186 for installation of foam tiles in outdoor play area

Adorable Smiles Family Childcare Creston - $2,784 for indoor and outdoor play equipment, safety equipment and storage units

Berry Patch Daycare Creston - $7,000 for indoor and outdoor play equipment, children’s furniture and storage units

Kootenai Community Centre Society Creston - $6,852 for washer and dryer, microwave, storage sheds, accessibility ramp and noise cancelling headphones for Teddy Bear Daycare

Curious Cubs Early Learning Centre Elkford - $7,000 for indoor and outdoor play equipment, furniture and wagons

Fernie Child Care Society - $4,428 for dry erase boards, strollers, light box and resting mats

Fernie Kids Childcare and Learning - $7,000 for storage units and picnic tables

Il Etait Une Fois French Immersion Daycare -$2,791 for washer, dryer and storage cabinets

Sweet Peas Daycare Fernie - $4,800 for fridge, stove, dishwasher, air purifier and children’s bakeware

Wild Wapiti Playschool - $1,492 for children’s furniture

Kimberley Independent School - $1,844 for a washer and dryer

Kimberley Lil Tykes Daycare - $7,000 for a wagon, indoor and outdoor play equipment and storage units

Purcell International Preschool Kimberley - $6,035 for indoor and outdoor play and safety equipment and more

Small Batch Family Care Kimberley - $6,745 for indoor and outdoor play equipment, children’s furniture, rugs, stoarage units, car seats and a stroller

Summit Community Services Kimberley - $2,917 for tables, fridge, children’s seats and sensory items for Lindsay Park Afterschool Program

Summit Community Services Kimberley - $1,862 for indoor and outdoor play equipment and fridge for Marysville Afterschool Program

Summit Community Services Kimberley - $5,536 for indoor and outdoor play equipment and children’s furniture for First Steps Daycare

Megan’s LL Sparwood Kids Corp- $5,255 for indoor play and sensory equipment, storage units, rugs and children’s furniture

Society for Kids Care - Elk Valley - $7,000 for children’s furniture, rugs, shelving units and play mats for Sparwood Treehouse Daycare.

“Supporting healthy childhood development and activities for children is important to the Trust, which is why we have helped child care centres address their needs in a variety of ways over the years,” said Ulli Mueller, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits, Columbia Basin Trust. “We’re pleased they can now take this step of purchasing new equipment and doing small improvements, which aids them in their efforts to improve the quality and safety of their operations.”

Childcare facilities in the West Kootenay also received numerous grants, meaning 105 facilities benefited from the CBT funding.
