After a wet, cold and windy winter that wasn’t kind to this valley, spring has finally sprung and the Blossom Valley Singers join the whole community in breathing a huge sigh of relief and release. Like the song says, “It feels like years since it’s been here!”
This time, the choir’s spring concert program offers songs of sun and rain – these two essentials of life which have served as symbols, metaphors, and portents since mankind’s first learnings. The welcome warmth and promise of a bright, sunshiny day … the healing power of a long-awaited rain … or the simple joy of listening to raindrops pattering in the leaves or on our rooftops. We’re celebrating the power of sun and rain to lift our spirits, how they can represent our hopes and dreams, and much more. Come and join us!
Also featured in the concert are local women’s choir Key of She, the Windjammers band (bringing some instrumental accompaniment as well as a showcase number of their own), a piano solo by accompanist Danielle Sonntag, and other tasty musical morsels for you to enjoy. Performances are held in the Kootenay River Theatre at the high school on Saturday, May 4 at 7 pm and Sunday, May 5 at 2 pm. Tickets are $15 (or $10 for those 12 years old and under). Blossom Valley Singers is a non-audition community choir with its arms open to all those who love to sing and would love to share the joy of making music with others.
