Thunder Cats will be seeking new head coach, GM

The KIJHL is reporting that the contract of Creston Valley Thunder Cats Head Coach and General Manager Brad Tobin will not be renewed for the 2024-25 season.

The Thunder Cats made the announcement Friday, March 8. Creston fell to the Fernie Ghostriders, four games to one, in the the first round of the KIJHL playoffs.

Tobin has completed two stints behind the Thunder Cats bench, having served in his role during the 2017-18 season and again from 2022-24.

“The Creston Valley Thunder Cats’ board would like to thank Brad for his commitment and dedication to the organization over the past two seasons and wish him all the best in the future,” said team president Shannon Veitch.

The Thunder Cats will immediately begin the process of hiring a new Head Coach and General Manager and will provide details for interested applicants in the coming days.

Round 2 of the playoffs got underway late last week.

As of Friday night, March 8, Fernie leads Columbia Valley one game to nothing (1-0), Grand Forks leads Beaver Valley 1-0), North Okanagan leads Princeton 2-0, and Revelstoke leads Kamloops 1-0).
