The Creston Wave Swim Club was back in the water just a week after the Trail meet. This time, the team was competing in Grand Forks for a one-day four-event swim meet on Sunday. Eight swimmers competed in the meet and three brought home medals.

Suzie Whitford, at her first meet ever, competed in the girls Div. 1 50-metre free and 50-metre back, placing in the top 10 in both. Her sister, Millie, also at her first ever meet, competed in all four events, placing in the top six in all of them.

Alexandra Brown competed with Suzie in Div. 1. She placed top in the six in three races, and got a best time in those same three.

Kiffy Thompson competed in Div. 2 with Millie. Kiffy got a best time in all four of her races and won the bronze medal for Div. 2 girls.

Four senior swimmers went to the meet. Kate Page swam even faster than she did at the Trail meet, earning three best times and three top 10 finishes.

Hayden Persad, at his first meet of the season, took off almost a full five seconds in his 50-metre free. Along with three best times, in total he placed in the top six in three events.

Hayden’s brother, Isaiah, also took off large amounts of time in all of his races. Isaiah’s fast swimming earned him a top two finish in all of his races, and overall a silver medal in the Div. 5 boys category.

The Wave’s third medal winner was Kylee Pemberton. She got a best time in all four of her races and finished in the top five in all of her races, which tied her for the bronze medal in Div. 6.

The Wave had more best times than the previous meet, and less disqualifications. Overall, the Wave finished sixth in team standings.

This coming weekend, the Waves are hosting a meet, which will run June 18 and 19. There will be seating for anyone who wants to come watch and support the team.
