Prince Charles basketball teams earn mixed results

On Feb. 16, the Prince Charles Secondary School bantam teams played in Salmo. The boys lost 35-28, with Luke Casemore the high scorer for PCSS. The girls defeated Salmo Secondary School 50-14, with Emily Simpson and Tessa Poznikoff as high scorers.

On Feb. 17 and 18, the junior boys finished in second place at the Invermere tournament. The boys lost to David Thompson Secondary School 49-42. Kieran Poznikoff scored 21 points and Logan Gill grabbed 12 rebounds.

In game two, the boys defeated Selkirk Secondary School (Kimberley) 59-24. Kieran had 20 points and seven steals, Brayden Czar had 13 rebounds, Logan Gill had 11 rebounds and five steals, and Dwight Betker had nine rebounds and five steals. In the final game, PCSS lost to the DTSS Grade 10s 69-32. Czar had 10 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, while Betker had six rebounds.

•This week, the junior boys and girls play in Cranbrook, the bantams play Salmo at home on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m., the senior boys are at the zone championships in Grand Forks and the senior girls host the zone playoffs on Friday at 3 and 7 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
