The Prince Charles Secondary School senior girls basketball team

The Prince Charles Secondary School curling teams competed in the East Kootenay zone championships in Sparwood on Jan. 13 and 14. The senior boys and girls finished first, while the junior teams finished third. The teams are coached by Sylvia Main and Terry O’Connor. The senior teams will compete for a provincial championship spot by playing the first place team from the West Kootenay zone.

• The senior girls basketball team played its first games of the season in Grand Forks on Jan. 13 and 14, finishing sixth out of eight teams. The team lost to Heritage Christian (Kelowna) 57-33, defeated Nakusp 52-49 and lost to Osoyoos 71-49. High scorers were Cheyanne Kehler and Katrina Tarrant. The team is coached by Sharen Popoff.

• The senior boys basketball team played its first games of the season in Kimberly on Jan. 13 and 14, and finished seventh out of eight teams, losing to Selkirk (Kimberly) 83-66, and defeating Mt. Sentinel (Slocan Valley) 85-83 and Trail 68-66. High scorers were Parker Morris and Regan Czar. The team is coached by Doug Dortman and Andrew Stolz.
