Following his Creston Valley Thunder Cats’ 8-1 win in Kimberley on Saturday night head coach Brad Tobin was too angry to comment on the rout, which featured a brawl with only several minutes left in the third period.
On Tuesday the KIJHL made its own feelings known on the subject. Seven players have been handed suspensions as a result of Saturday night’s fracas.
Lucas Purdy and Harrison Risdon of the Kimberley Dynamiters were the big losers, absorbing 7- and 5-game suspensions respectively.
Purdy was cited for earning a match penalty for attempt to injure, and taking a game misconduct in the last 10 minutes of the game. Risdon’s crimes were to participate in multiple fights during the same stoppage in play, taking a game misconduct in the last 10 minutes of the game and being hit with a major penalty for head contact.
The Dynamiters’ Mason Palaga gets 2 games off for coming off the bench to join the party and James Farmer gets 1 game for getting a game misconduct in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Thunder Cat starting goalie Levi Mitchell and Carson Small both will miss 3 games for participating in multiple fights in the same stoppage and taking game misconducts in the last 10 minutes of the game. Austin Canete, who also got a game misconduct in the last 10 minutes of the game, gets a 1 game suspension.
