The Kootenay Zone earned 15 medals at the BC Summer Games, and one of those, a bronze, came home to Creston after Kieran Simpson placed third in the boys’ long jump. He also placed 17th in the 100-metre and 19th in the 200-metre runs.

The 15-year-old attended the games along with several other Creston Valley residents, including his sister, 13-year-old Emily, whose highest ranking was eighth in the girls’ 800-metre run, followed by 12th in the 2,000-metre and 15th in the 1,200-metre.

Thirteen-year-old Andrew Armstrong also attended, placing 16th in the boys’ aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon.
