On this 50th anniversary of the BC Senior Games held Aug. 21-25 in Burnaby, the East Kootenay (Zone 7) was well represented both as participants and at the podium.

There were 50 participants from the East Kootenay, and among these there was a total 29 medals earned at the games.

The participants from Creston were Zone 7 chair Bob Ewashen (tennis), Terje Munkerud (track and field), Alex and Nicole Nilsson (track and field) and Kurt Schadeli (soccer).

Among Creston participants, Alex Nilsson brought home three gold, four silver, and four bronze medals in track and field events. Terje Munkerud came away with gold medals in the five- and 10-kilometre walks.

The BC Seniors Games Society is appreciative of town council's support of this important event.
