Creston peewee team earns fifth in weekend tourney

The Creston Valley Minor Hockey peewee house team played in an eight-team tournament on the weekend in Castlegar. Teams came from as far away as Salmon Arm to play.

The first game was Friday night, when the Creston Bruins lost to the Nelson Stingrays by a score of 6-2. The team played well despite the injury of defenceman Shayne Walker in the first period. Goalie Cole Bright stood on his head and kept the game as close as he could.

On Saturday, two games were played. The early morning game was against the Rossland-Trail Crossfire and ended up a loss with a score of 6-3. The scorers in that game were Alex Blackmore, with two, and Vinson Blackmore, with one.

The Satuday afternoon game was against the Castlegar Saints. After a rousing pregame speech from Chad Luke, the team went out and played its best for a win with a score of 6-3. Scorers were Vinson Blackmore, Serge Chatwin, Levi Palmer, Justice Samuels Mund and Alex Blackmore (two). The team also won the Timbits shootout after the game. The team played well and its goalie was on fire.

On Sunday morning, the team played the Salmon Arm Warriors and ended the weekend with a fifth-place win in the tournament, with ascore of 6-4. The scorers for the game were Chatwin (two), Mund and Alex Blackmore (three).
