Creston hosting BC Masters Curling Championships this week

As many as 150 people from all around the province have converged on Creston for the BC Masters Curling Championship at Creston District Community Complex.

The first ceremonial stone was thrown last night to officially open the week-long BC Masters Curling Championship at Creston & District Community Complex.

As many as 150 people from all around the province have converged on Creston for the annual event, 80 of whom are curlers over 60 years of age. Creston last hosted the event in 2014.

The opening ceremonies included bagpipers leading a participants’ march, the singing of O Canada lead by Norm Stead, a welcome from organizing chair Vern Ronmark, greetings from Mayor Ron Toyota. The first ceremonial rock was thrown by Al Tholl, with Don Simmons sweeping and Len Folkman holding the broom

Wednesday draws are set for 8:30 am 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
