Tim Lengyell's Creston atom Bruins played in their banner tournament this past weekend in Sparwood. Their first game had them up against the Elk Valley Wild and ended the game in a 2-2 tie. Two hours later, they took on the Kimberley team and won with a final score of 6-2.

On Sunday morning they faced the Golden Rams. They were down 3-0 at the beginning but played hard for a comeback and ended the game with a win of 4-3. This was a big win, as this took them into the final game for the banner. Just an hour-and-a-half rest brought them face-to-face again with the Elk Valley Wild. They put in a stellar effort but just couldn't find the energy to pull it off, and lost the atom banner to the Wild with a final score of 5-2.

The whole team put in a great performance with some of the following players standing out: Matthew Lengyell with six goals and Merlin Blackmore with two, and strong game showings by Nathan Griffioen, Serge Chatwin, Justice Samuels-Mund and Caytlyn Luke.

Coach Lengyell is very pleased with the season and would like to thank his assistant coaches, Chad Luke and Hyrum Blackmore. The team sends out a huge thank you to team manager extraordinaire, Renelle Walker, as well as the team’s jersey sponsors, Kal Tire and Pyramid Building Supplies.

This weekend is a busier one as we move into the banners — check next week’s Advance for the latest scores.
