Creston Mayor Ron Toyota spoke to a crowd of about 1,000 assembled to see the CP Holiday Train on Monday morning.

The CP Rail event, which stops in Creston every two years, raises funds for food banks across the country, and donated $5,500 to the Creston Valley Gleaners Society’s food bank on this visit. Toyota added to those funds with $8,500 raised in his Mayor’s Challenge, held in conjunction with the train's arrival.

Entertainment was also part of the event, with Jim Cuddy (right) of Blue Rodeo fame, his son Devin and country singer Kelly Prescott.
