Many businesses participated in fundraising and collecting food for the Creston Ministerial Association's annual Christmas hamper drive, which packed 460 hampers on Dec. 14 (photos here). Among them were the Creston Valley Advance, Sue's Clotheslines, the Creston and District Credit Union and caterer Dennis Munro.

Through 112 individual donations to its annual community Christmas card (below) the Advance raised $11,474.25, which editor Brian Lawrence presented to Grace Christian Fellowship Pastor Stephen Schneider on hamper packing day.

Staff of Creston and District Credit Union passed on a cheque for $2,300 to Erickson Covenant Church Pastor Tom Greentree. The staff raised nearly half of the funds with a bake sale and the credit union matched the proceeds.

On the hamper packing day, caterer Dennis Munro donated $870, accepted by Schneider. The funds were part of the proceeds from the popular annual Christmas dinner and dance Munro hosts at the Creston and District Community Complex.

On Dec. 8, Sue’s owner Sue Thomas presented Greentree with $3,311.56, raised through a variety of ways, including a silent auction ($1,315), and over $900 in fundraising sales, which Thomas matched.
