(Re: “Municipal auditor will find conflicts)

Rhonda Barter’s recent letter to the Advance alleges some collusion regarding town council dealings and local businesses.

This could all be put to rest very effectively if the following two conditions were enacted:

•All councillors publish an itemized account of all election expenses and sources of income to meet these expenses. This would indicate any possible influence or future favouritism; and

•All councillors publish a statement of any business conducted relating  to city spending or resulting from any council decisions. This would indicate any possible conflict of interest or any council member benefiting from a council decision or city financial dealing.

Such an action in a clear and transparent matter would put any lingering doubts to rest. I hope this will be done to allay any misapprehensions.

After all, “Caesar’s wife must be above suspicion.”

All the best in 2012!
