Megan Emary, Allison Olson and Kaitlyn Zolynsky are dynamic young ladies who lead very busy lives but somehow find time to support the cause of cancer, which has touched all their lives. This team, Annie’s Angels, led by ace fundraiser Betty Martin, has already raised over $700, with a goal of $4,000.
Another really young lady from Amanda Kerr’s team, the Rack Pack, is Rayann Stuart, who has already raised $120. Rayann watched as her sister Shaylee donated her beautiful long hair at last year’s relay to the Locks of Love. Now Rayann promises, “If my sister can do it, so can I!”
These youngsters clearly represent the spirit of renewal for this year’s Relay for Life. Many thanks to those who have volunteered countless hours over the past 10 years and would now like to pass the torch.
The 2012 kickoff meeting was well attended, but more volunteers are still needed. No special skills are necessary — simply care enough to make it happen.
The battle against this terrible disease has made great progress, but still, 60 people from B.C. and the Yukon are diagnosed with the disease every day.
The relay has consistently provided the community with an opportunity to come together and support those who are battling cancer as well as to show support to the people who have lost loved ones to the disease.
This year, the event returns to the Alex Nilsson Field at the Creston and District Community Complex on June 2, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. This year the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market is the relay’s partner. Local vendors will be selling their goodies on the field.
Please help us continue the tradition of caring in the Creston Valley. Let’s kick cancer out of our community.
