Congratulations to the Erickson History Book Group on having such an interesting letter describing the Imperial Bank robbery of Oct. 20, 1925 — such a valuable record.

I have sometimes written an article about this, calling it the story of the “B.O. (Body Odour) Bandits,” for young Herb Dodd found the man hiding in grass in an orchard because being downwind, he smelled him!

Who remembers that many people had little access to soap and water, and so had a substantial odour wherever they went? I can recall our teacher in the early primary grades in the one-room Gray Creek school telling us in the late fall “Don’t let your parents sew you into your long underwear for the winter,” as she had been instructed by her training at the BC Normal School!
