I would totally agree; however, think about why someone would spend $50 in fuel to go shop elsewhere. Could it be that even with the fuel expense they are still saving enough money to make it worth their while? I don’t blame the business owners in Creston for high prices, but for the outrageous expense of renting a commercial building.
How is it that rent here in Creston is higher than in Calgary or New York? Why are half the businesses in Creston up for sale? Why are some bought and right back up for sale? Why is half of the main street vacant? Do the owners have so much money that they couldn’t give a hoot? Who’s going to do something about it?
We’ve had some wonderful little unique shops start up and just vanish as quickly as they appeared, little business that could provide employment. Anyone seen the employment board lately?
I would ask the owners of these buildings to have a look at themselves. Do you care about your community or does the situation just give you a sense of power?
