Libyan war not about civilians

To the Editor:

Regarding Libya: In 1969, while on a medical visit in Turkey, King Idris of Libya was deposed by a military coup. The monarchy was abolished and the Libyan Arab Republic was proclaimed. Its directions were about unity, social justice and an equitable distribution of wealth. Col. Muammar al-Qaddafi 27 became the chief of state. King Idris went into exile to Egypt, where he lived till his death in 1983 at age 94.

In 1970, the British and American military bases in Libya were closed, and contracts with foreign oil companies were renegotiated to the benefit of Libya. Even the New York Times lately acknowledged that with his increased oil revenues, “Qaddafi set about building roads, hospitals, schools and housing.” Most important of all, however, “life expectancy, which was 51 in 1969, is now over 74,” an accomplishment that could be achieved only with enormous improvements in public health that was delivered widely to the entire population. Besides, Libya has next to no national debt. It had the state owned Central Bank of Libya. These are just a few items that irritated greedy western profiteers.

The U.S./NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) war against Libya did not surprise me. The Anglo-American-Jewish empire, which currently runs the world, has developed an action pattern, which, although differently disguised for every occasion, is easily recognizable. When the empire wants to rob a victim country — Libya in the present case — of valuable resources or strategic geography, it enlists the services of the corporate media, which is the main tool for spreading official lies and coverups, and is conveniently owned by the same group that manages world finances. They work together, and the results are always the same. Each new war brings huge profits for the British, American, and Jewish ruling classes and their hangers-on.

The official reason for war against Libya was to protect Libyan civilians. But this was just a cover; the war is to plunder Libyan oil, gas, water and other resources. The U.S./NATO forces indiscriminately dropped thousands of bombs on cities, towns, power stations, water distribution points, villages, schools, hospitals, media centers, universities, farms, residential areas and public installations of every kind. Countless civilians have been killed and injured, and we are supposed to believe this war is for their protection.

Some people have an opinion about NATO as if it were something morally superior, but it’s just another branch of American military. It is a criminal terrorist organization, pretending to be something else. Like our strange prime minister, who is ever ready to support an evil cause, and has sent Canadian military to bomb Libyan homes, killing and maiming children and adults, and who knows very well what this war is about, is now talking as if this evil activity were a harbinger of freedom and prosperity for Libyans. He says, “To this point, notwithstanding the fighting and the loss of life, there is good reason to be optimistic…this is a revolution essentially affected from within. People have overturned a tyrant.” And again, ”Our anticipation is that the military mission will obviously terminate sometime in the future but we’ll first make sure the job is actually finished.” (www.thestar.com)

His words are nothing but ignorant deceptions and lies. Libyans will never have under any western puppet regime what they had during Gaddafi’s rule: subsidized food, water, housing, education, medical services, and other privileges that no other Arabs or Africans have. Libya had the highest standard of living on the entire African continent. Now they will have what you see in Afghanistan or Iraq — chaos, ongoing killing and various religious fanatics running the country.

I am totally disgusted with Canadian politicians, who, with one single exception, all agreed that murdering and maiming innocent Libyans and destroying Libyan national assets is the right thing to do. I am equally disgusted with our religious leaders, who by their silence show their agreement with the rich, greedy and evil warmongers.
