I have great news.

The BC government has announced that it is eliminating interest charged on BC student loans, effective February 19, 2019. And it’s not just for those currently in school or for future students – everyone with a BC student loan will benefit.

This is incredible!

After years of campaigns and actions – including 20,000 postcards sent to government, nearly 100 meetings and presentations to elected officials, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of emails to the Finance Minister – we have achieved something great.

Eliminating interest charged on student loans will help to level the playing field for British Columbians, and will make life more affordable for those who had to borrow to access post-secondary education.

This change will keep thousands of dollars in the pockets of hard-working people who are struggling to repay their student loans.

Please consider sending Minister Carole James and Minister Melanie Mark a quick email to thank them for making the right decision.

There is more work to be done to ensure post-secondary education in BC is affordable and accessible for all, and this is an amazing first step!

Thank you for everything.
