To the Editor:

Thank you to the Creston Valley branch of Wildsight on the inauguration of its first Creston Valley Bird Fest. Tanna Patterson and her organizational team co-ordinated an exceptional program for bird watching, guided expeditions and bird conservation, as well as a full circuit of food, music, art, photography and Brian Keating’s excellent habitat presentation.

Recently, Peter Mansbridge of CBC reported on the decline of birds in Canada. What a sad day it would be if we were to look up at the skies and not see or hear any birds! I was very fortunate to see a shimmering green hummingbird greeting me by my window on the very first day of the festival.

As stewards of our Earth, even our smallest actions determine the sustainability of our habitat and all animal life. We are lucky to enjoy the birds, wildlife, plants, beauty and peace in our Creston Valley. We look forward to the second bird festival.
