Creston Valley residents should boycott '50 Shades of Grey'

50 Shades of Grey glamorizes pornography, domestic violence and exploitation of women, says letter writer Lynn Reeb...

To the Editor:

50 Shades of Grey glamorizes pornography, domestic violence and exploitation of women. In my opinion, this message is extremely damaging to viewers.

Recently, in response to the film’s release, Kildonan-St. Paul MP Joy Smith released a statement asking individuals to oppose violence against women by boycotting the movie declaring, “It is another film set to warp the minds of a new generation. … One survivor of sexual violence shared that ‘50 Shades is a horrible reminder of my own abusive relationship, repackaged in a love story.’ ”

This is not the message we want released to the people of Creston. Please consider boycotting this movie, and definitely do not encourage young people to see this film.
