Artist thankful for SculptureWalk installations in Creston

It is a great opportunity for us to enjoy artwork we might not otherwise see, says Lister artist Nora McDowell...

(Re: “Out-of-town sculpture installations insulting to Creston Valley artists”)

On behalf of James and I, and I am sure many other artists in Creston, we are not insulted by the international sculptures here in Creston, and where Stuart Steinhaur’s bear sits now, especially with the blooming tulips, is absolutely stellar.

It took me a while to wrap my mind around what the SculptureWalk is, but I think it is a great opportunity for us to enjoy artwork we might not otherwise see, and in future years I understand local artists will be included in the call.

Only “competing” against a small number of our own peers does not afford recognition. I am thankful to those who have had this vision for our community.
