Yvonne Irene Rivers (nee Bredt)

December 13, 1943 ~ December 17, 2015

Mrs. Yvonne Irene Rivers (nee Bredt) of Arrowcreek passed away on December 17, 2015 at Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 72.

Yvonne was born December 13, 1943 to Irene and the late Darrell Bredt Sr. in Creston BC. The family moved to Spokane briefly, but returned to Creston while Yvonne was still a toddler. Save the time spent in the USA as a baby, she lived her whole life in Arrowcreek. In 1961, Yvonne married the love of her life, Roy Rivers, and they moved just down the road from where Yvonne grew up.

To speak of Yvonne, one must speak of Roy because they were never apart. They shared a love of nature, of music, and of God. Yvonne loved writing poetry, photography, and animals. Over the years, their little acreage was home to any number of God's creatures, and she loved each and every one. She also loved her family, especially her mother, whom she never went a day without seeing until her mother was put in a nursing home in the summer of 2015 and she was denied access.

Yvonne had an especially close relationship with her sister, Kathy, whose house she like to call her second home. She also had special fondness for her niece Jacki, great-niece Steffi as well as her nephew Linden, great-great nephew Nikolai, and her dear friends Dan and Carol who all brought a smile to her face even in her gravest hour.

Yvonne never fully recovered after the heartbreak of losing Roy in 2012. During her times of suffering it was her faith in God, and knowing she would see Roy and baby Ronald again that brought her peace.

She is survived by her mother Irene Bredt of Creston BC; her brother Darrell (Pat) Bredt of Creston BC; sister Selma (Pat) Diotte of Creston BC; sister Kathy (Phil) Laflamme of Creston BC; brother Merle (Karen) Bredt of Creston BC; nieces Sharon, Shannon, Debbie, Jacki, Karen, Shelley; nephews Ken and Linden, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Roy, her son, Ronald Rivers, and her father Darrell Bredt Sr.

A Graveside Service was held December 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The funeral procession met at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel at 10:45am.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Yvonne's name may be made to Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
