Wesley Wayne Grindle

April 8, 1952 ~ February 19, 2014

Wesley Wayne Grindle was a cherished family member and a friend to many. On the evening of February 19, 2014, Wesley passed away surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer at the age of 61.

Born on April 8, 1952, Wesley was the first son of Evelyn and Wayne Grindle. Brothers Scott, Brad and Mark joined the family as they moved west from Minnesota, making stops in Montana, Colorado and Utah before settling in Creston, BC.

After graduating in Blanding, Utah, Wesley and his father Wayne began working in Creston at J H Huscroft Sawmill in 1971. Shortly after, Wesley met the love of his life, Diana Hubl and the couple were married in the fall of 1972.

After settling into their home in East Arrow Creek, Wesley and Diana welcomed their first child, Travis, in 1974. Their family was complete when their second son, Derek, was born 1976. They spent a lot of time with family living next to Wes’ parents and brothers including his youngest brother Ian who was born in 1979. The family moved to their current home in Erickson in 1989.

Wes was truly happiest at work. He was a hard worker, who loved the outdoors; he enjoyed logging with his father and various rolls at the mill before settling into his lifelong position as shipper, receiver and tallyman at Huscroft’s where he worked for the past 43 years.

Wesley was an avid reader and could most often be found sitting in his truck, listening to the radio and reading a book. He was a fan of many sports and played fast pitch for the company team for many years.

With a heart of gold, Wes was always willing to help, never had a mean word to say to anyone and had a deep love of animals. He took in many family pets and on any given day you could find him off at the mill to feed the cats. But most of all, Wesley loved the simple things in life and we will miss his quiet reminders of what is important…nature, friends and family.

We are comforted to know that Wesley is now with his son Derek, who passed away in September, 2013. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diana, son Travis (Tara), parents Wayne and Evelyn, mother-in-law Evelyn Hubl, daughter-in-law Kristin, brothers Scott (Joyce), Brad, Mark, Ian (Shelley) and his five grandchildren, Kiera, Payton, Nolen, Connor and Taitem as well as the extended Grindle and Hubl family.
