The bright light that was "Vi" went out on September 17, 2020 at PAH Foundation Lodge in White Rock, BC and her loving, kind and gentle spirit is now at peace with her soul mate Michael, daughter Sally, grandson Mike, sisters Eileen and Marg, brother Will and her parents and in-laws who have all gone before her.
Violet Ingle was born in London, England to William and Elizabeth Ingle, the 3rd of five children, and at an early age her family moved to Wisbech, Cambridgeshire where she completed her schooling.
She joined the British Army in 1944 and met a handsome young Canadian soldier named Michael, who was stationed in England as part of the allied forces during WWII. Although the times were challenging and fraught with all the uncertainties of war, their relationship flourished and they were married on September 15, 1945 in Wisbech.
Vi, along with many other English war brides then made the week long ocean voyage aboard the "Lady Nelson" from England to Canada, arriving in Halifax on June 30, 1946 and after a train trip across the country she was reunited with Michael in Creston, BC.
Vi and Mike settled in Creston Valley for the next 40 years where they worked and raised their family and in 1986 they retired to White Rock BC where they both continued to be part of community and church choirs and singing groups which they had done for many years in Creston.
Violet loved to cook, a skill she honed while in the army and her pastries were absolutely mouth watering and her Yorkshire pudding was without compare and a favourite of Michael's.
She was a loving and supportive wife and mother who put her family first and always looked for the good in people. She often said, "if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all" or "keep a stiff upper lip", which personified her positive outlook towards life and those around her.
In her last years in Long Term Care at the Lodge she was known as a lovely, sweet and caring lady to all whom she met.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Russ (Shelagh) of White Rock, her daughter Judy of Nanaimo, her sister Ivy Vale in England and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Canada and England.
There will be a family celebration of life for Violet at some future date.
Mom....you did so much and meant so much to so many for all of your 94 years.....now it is time for you to rest in peace.
