Victoria (Vickie) Mary Pretty

April 14, 1913 ~ August 29, 2014

Victoria (Vickie) Mary Pretty, a longtime resident of Creston, passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 29, 2014 in Cranbrook, BC at the age of 101 years.

Vickie was born to parents Kate and John Placsko in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan on April 14, 1913. She earned her Grade 11 Diploma there.

She married the love of her life, Jack Pretty, in Melfort, SK on October 22, 1940. In her younger years, Vickie worked in a local bakery in Creston.

She was actively involved in her church, teaching Sunday School for 28 years and very much a part of the Prayer Ministry. She was also part of Women’s Aglow Chapter in Creston.

Vickie spent many hours crocheting literally hundreds of beautiful doilies, giving them away to family and friends; some went as far as Russia and Scotland.

Vickie was predeceased by her husband Jack; brothers John, Frank, Andrew, Louis, Greg and Henry Placsko; sisters Kate, Rose and Eva. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Dale and Dennis (Cathy); grandsons David (Jan), Kevin, Ken (Lisa); and great-grandchildren Taylor, Jack, Katie, Olivia and Grace.

Her contagious laugh, fun loving personality and the love she had for her Savior Jesus are all values we have gleaned from her life.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Carl Sawler officiating. Interment followed the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, BC.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Joseph Creek Care Village, Equipment Fund – 1800 Willowbrook Dr, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 6S4.
