February 14, 1931 - October 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Valentina Gordon on October 27, 2020 in Crestview Village.
Verna was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on Valentines Day in 1931 to John and Maria Nickolckuck. She spent her early childhood in Gull Lake where her parents owned and operated the "General Store". When Verna was 8 the family moved to Erickson, BC where they purchased a fruit orchard. Verna graduated from Creston High School and then moved to Calgary, AB.
She worked as a secretary in Calgary and met James Gordon who was enlisted in the R.C.A.F. They married and had 2 daughters; Donna and Gail. Jim worked on Radar Bases and the family moved many times. Some of the places they lived in included Fort Nelson, PEI, France, Quebec and Ontario. Once Jim returned they moved back to Creston and ran the Family Orchard.
Verna worked at the Endicott Center until she retired. She was an avid traveller and very involved in the Catholic Church. She was an active member of the CWL and World Peace Organization. In her later years she enjoyed her many friends at Taps and in town.
Verna will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by those who survive her. Brother Larry (Maureen), loving daughters Donna and Gail. Grandchildren Shane (Lynn), Devon, Scott (Kyla), Mark (Lisa), Amanda (Jordan), Dustin (Crystal) and David (Teresa). Plus 12 great grandchildren.
Verna was predeceased by her husband James and her brother Tom.
