September 4, 1939 - May 18, 2021
With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Trudy Kelly on May 18, 2021, at the age of 81.
Trudy was born to Millicent and John (Jack) Cook in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan on September 4, 1939. In her youth, she learned exceptional skills of service at Jack's General Store in Palmer, Saskatchewan.
Trudy loved to sing, dance, curl, and make fun with friends. She married Patrick Kelly (Jack, Bridget) on Feb. 7, 1959. For 61 years, Trudy devoted her life to her family. Pat and Trudy built their family and lasting friendships in Cold Lake, Ab., Regina, Sask., Ft. McMurray, Ab., and in Creston B.C. She treasured her children; Dan, Kevin, Maureen (Kevin Gibson), Colleen (James Saunders), and Shane (Sherry Evans) while nurturing a strong bond of closeness, friendship, and love between them.
Trudy felt deeply blessed by the gift of each of her 10 grandchildren (Bridget, Ryan, Sean, Rebecca, Caitlyn, Kyra, Brennen, Adin, Jack and Cayla); as well as her 3 great grandchildren (Brooklynn, Makayla, and Landon).
She taught them to enjoy the simple pleasures of a good life while passing down her aptitude for cooking, gardening, and building relationships. She was captured by the beauty of Kootenay Lake which will continue to be a spectacular home away from home shared by the Kelly family.
Trudy is also survived by her younger sister Audrey and brother Harold. She suffered the loss of her loving husband Pat 13 months ago, so the family is grateful that they are reunited. Trudy was a true-blue, life-long friend. She endured many health challenges and pushed through each one with strength, fortitude, resilience, and grace. Grandma is our hero.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society of B.C. & Yukon.
Due to global health concerns, a Celebration of Life will take place when possible.
