Thomas James Dickson

1926 ~ 2012


It is with deep sorrow that the family of Thomas James Dickson announces his passing on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 86 years of age.

Before retirement Tom worked as a trapper, a logger and a construction carpenter. After retirement Tom spent many hours quadding, picking huckleberries, skidooing, wood crafts and building log furniture and he shared his knowledge of these with the younger generation.


Thomas was born on May 19, 1926 in Kimberley, British Columbia. He is survived by his loving wife Rita Dickson; sons Morris (Jill) Brown and Barry (Christine) Brown; grandchildren Courtney (Jamie Adam), Amanda and Daniel Brown and Blair Hollingsworth; great grandchildren Carter Adam and Spencer Brooks. He was predeceased by his father James Bristol Dickson, mother Wilhelmina "Ma" Dickson, sister Laura Edwards and grandchild Kerry Brooks.


Special thanks to Dr. Chesney, Dr. McIvor and the nurses at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, members of the Yahk Fire Department and staff at the Dr. F. W. Green Memorial Home for their special care of Tom. A very special thanks to Leland and Loopy Pratt and Cam and Betty for being there for us. Also thanks to George and Judy Dickson and family and Leighton and Lynda Dickson for your help.


A Memorial Service for Tom will be held at the Yahk Kingsgate Community Centre on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
