March 28, 1940 - July 1, 2024
Shirley left us peacefully on July 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Tsawwassen. Born the youngest daughter of the late Clyde and Alice Chadwick of Creston, BC, Shirley lived a life filled with devotion, kindness, and a mischievous spark that brightened the lives of everyone around her.
Shirley was predeceased by her cherished husband, Gerald Moulds, and is survived by her three children: son William (Bill) and his wife Christina, with daughters Emma, Sarah, and Mary; son Mike and his wife Joanne, with sons Christopher, Ryan, and Brandon; and daughter Susan Stickley (née Moulds) and her husband Mike, with daughters Jordan, Madyson, and Seanne. She also leaves behind her brothers Roger, Howard, and Bob Chadwick, her sister Mae Brown, and a large extended family.
After graduating from high school in Creston, Shirley moved to Vancouver to pursue a post-secondary program and began her career as a dental hygienist. She later married Gerald, and together they embarked on a journey that took them from Creston to Harrison Lake, Agassiz, Grand Forks, and finally Tsawwassen, where they settled to raise their young family. Shirley dedicated much of her life to nurturing her three children, always eager to volunteer for their activities. Her baking—especially her brownies, sugar cookies and Nanaimo bars, were enjoyed by many.
Shirley's playful side was just as unforgettable. She delighted in hiding in the dark to scare Gerry, and later in life, she brought laughter to the staff at the Waterford by ambushing them with a loaded squirt gun. A passionate advocate for Celiac disease awareness, Shirley, alongside Gerry, played an instrumental role in establishing the Celiac Association. They took great joy in attending conferences across North America and organizing events to support the cause. While the couple loved traveling the world, their most treasured moments were spent on family trips to Salt Spring Island and Tofino with their children and grandchildren and Sunday dinners.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 29, 2025, at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn in Delta, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Kidney Foundation, a cause close to Shirley's heart.
Shirley was a devoted mother to her three children, an adoring "Nannie" to her nine grandchildren, and a steadfast friend to many. Her warmth, generosity, playful spirit, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. Mom, take it easy on dad now that you are together again... He was resting in peace... Love you always.
