Rose Marie Dortman (nee McGregor)

March 24, 1935 - August 24, 2011


Rose Marie Dortman (nee McGregor) passed away in Creston, BC on August 24, 2011 after a lengthy illness at the age of 76 years.


Rose was born in Creston on March 24, 1935 to Ruth and Raymond McGregor. She received her education at PCSS in Creston as well as in Vancouver.

On July 19, 1957 she married Randy Dortman in Crawford Bay. During the period of 1957 – 1963 she was a well respected teacher in Riondel, BC. In 1964 she and Randy bought a ranch in Creston where they have enjoyed life for the past 47 years of their 54 years together.

She loved sports and in her younger years she particularly enjoyed softball and badminton. She won many local and rural badminton championships during her school years as well as the BC Provincial championship in 1952. During her many years on the ranch she enjoyed all animals and loved growing an enormous garden, as well as raising a family. She was an avid church-goer, quiet and kind yet deeply spiritual with a very strong faith in the Lord.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Ray and Ruth McGregor.

She is survived by her husband Randy, sons Terry (Phoebe) and Doug (Gail); grandchildren Eric, Matti, Tessa, Jamond and Jordan. She is also survived by her brother Percy McGregor (April).


The Service for Rose was held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the New Life Christian Church with Pastor Gordon Lawrence officiating.

Interment took place in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, BC.
