Robert (Leo) Joseph Freindorf

November 19, 1933 ~ November 20, 2014


Robert (Leo) Joseph Freindorf passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer.

Leo worked for nearly thirty years in the forest industry as a millwright and machinist in the communities of Giscome and Bear Lake. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1998 and moved to Creston, BC, an area that he loved. He always hoped to get “the big one” – A prize Kokanee out of Kootenay Lake.

Leo was predeceased by his parents Edward and Vera Freindorf, brother Stan Freindorf and grandson Devon Bailey.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean; nine children- Catherine (Urbain), Sharon (Karl), Edward (Dorothea), Vera (Kjell), Angela (Laurie), Penny (Jeff), Cynthia (Lorne), Jeanne (Rod) and Robert (Trina); brother Fred (Barbara) Freindorf; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.


A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel in Creston, BC with father Tom Kakkaniyil officiating.

Leo will always be remembered by those who knew him.
