We lost him. Richard "Gordon" Armstrong, born on August 14, 1923 to Mary Jane 'Jenny' Armstrong and Richard "Dick" Armstrong. Gordon had two sisters, Jean Thornton and Nan Dodd.

Gordon served in the RCAF in WWII as a wireless air gunner searching for enemy submarines out of Tofino and Ucluelet. Following the war he returned to Creston, worked at various jobs including the Creston Valley Co-op and married Joan Langston.

The children arrived and they built their home in Erickson. Farming and the original "new" Recreation Centre occupied most of his working time. Joan passed away in 1987. Gordon met and married Shirley.
