Ramona Betts (nee Marchena)
August 31, 1930~ June 1, 2016
Ramona Marchena was born at Cabuya, Costa Rica August 31,1930. She worked as a nanny, housekeeper and store clerk in San Jose for fourteen years, suffering a loss of sleep in order to gain a basic education, before she and her dwarf parrot were confronted with Robert, the first man she trusted enough to go out on a date. They married on December 9, 1961 and she soon became the centre of his life. Time waits for no one, as our loved one was lost on June 1, 2016 when her good heart gave out at 85 years.
Survivors are her husband Robert, sons David (Kathy) and Daniel (Kelly) and grandchildren Logan and Jillian.
Forty-eight years ago Ramona was hit with the label “puerperal psychosis of a catatonic schizophrenic nature”, one of the ever changing and expanding labels of the psychiatric complex. After nearly 14 years of major tranquillizers her husband finally got her off psycho-pharmaceuticals and her suicidal side effects. Through it all Ramona never lost her faith in the Creator and she gradually returned to a healthy state of mind through a nutritionally healthy life style.
With a heavy heart we say goodbye to a dear, sweet, and fine lady.
