Peter Louie Podgorenko

May 30, 1932 ~ January 26, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter. He passed away peacefully at Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton.

As a young boy living in Creston, Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing and life on the farm. As a young man he moved to Victoria where Peter was a longshoreman and finished his career as a Super Cargo at the Vancouver Docks. Peter enjoyed his race car days at Western Speedway where he was know as Pig Iron Pete. Peter returned to his childhood environment in his retirement as an owner of a 160 acre ranch in Lac La Hache. He led a very energetic and on the go lifestyle but always had time to help his family, friends and neighbours.

Peter is predeceased by father Louie, mother Sophie Rotar and brothers Mickey and Sam.

He will be greatly missed by his sister Irena; sons Cliff, Alan, and Collin; daughters Sonya and Karen. He was Papa to grandchildren Brenna, Chelsea, Leanne, Dogan, Lucus, and his great-grandchild Logan, as well as many nieces, nephews and his many close friends, neighbours, fellow workers and all those that met him.

Special thanks to friend and companion Joan Barnett for her care of Peter during his battle with cancer. Peter fought the battle but the battle won.

May his strength, determination, optimism, and spirit live on.
