January 21, 1923 ~ May 26, 2011

Pearl Bright (nee Cherniwchan) of Creston passed away on May 26, 2011 in Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Pearl was born January 21, 1923 in Bellis, AB and was educated in Dickie Bush.

She met Lester Bright at Ponoka, AB, where they were married on February 6, 1945. The couple moved to Whitelaw, AB, where they farmed and their son Wayne was born in December 1948. Pearl also worked as a cook in rig camps. In 1968 they moved to St. Paul, AB, where she worked as a matron in a seniors' facility and in 1977 Les and Pearl moved to Creston to retire. Pearl went back to work in 1979 at Swan Valley Lodge as a care aid until her retirement in 1988.

She was always busy as she had to make “the day pay”.

Her passion was her flower and vegetable garden and she spent many hours keeping it weed free. She enjoyed giving away the fruits of her labour. She also spent time crocheting, knitting, quilting and a variety of other crafts. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with the group Thursday night.

She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxillary and was always willing to give a helping hand when called upon.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 1991, her grandson Trent in 2007, sister Irene and her parents John and Lena Cherniwchan.

She is survived by her son Wayne (Diane); grandson Blaine (Melanie) and great-grandson Cole. She is also survived by her brother Jeff (Louise) Wade; three nephews and their families and numerous friends and other relatives.

A Celebration of Pearl's Life will be held at a later date.

Interment of her ashes will be held at Whitelaw, AB at a later date.
