Paul M. Holmes

May 11, 1919 ~ Sept. 16, 2016

Retired RCMP member, Regimental #14010, Cpl. Paul M. Holmes passed away peacefully at Creston Valley Hospital after a short illness.

Paul was on the ‘short list’ of having the privilege of being one of the oldest living retired members! Born in Dollard Saskatchewan, and from the farm, he joined the Force in 1941. From Depot recruit training in Regina, SK, he was transferred to Hamilton, ON where he met the love of his life Marian, and they would spend the rest of their lives together.

Paul spent the next 14 years in the Security Service plainclothes work. In 1955 he was transferred to Glaslyn, SK. In 1960 he was transferred to Lloydminster, SK, where he retired from the Force in 1961. He then joined the Canadian Hereford Assn. as Secretary Manager in Calgary AB and eventually retired to Salmon Arm, BC in 1973.

Paul was an avid bird hunter in his early years and became quite an expert on bird taxidermy, having being taught that art by his father. He was a Life Member of the RCMP Veterans Okanagan Division and was passionate to the core, and very proud, to be associated to the Force, the Veterans' Association, and the Royal Canadian Legion.

He was predeceased in August of 2015 by his loving wife Marian of 69 years and are now together again for all eternity.

Paul and Marian were extremely proud of their children: Lynda (deceased in 2008) (Jim Maguire); David (Nina), Brian (Kathryn) and Dayle (Cliff Todd); grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Paul and Marian will be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Creston, BC and will be very sadly missed by all of family and friends. May they both rest in peace, together again.

The family thanks the staff at Crest View Care Village, Creston Valley Hospital Palliative Care staff, and especially Dr. Oberleitner. Our thanks also to the staff at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel.
