May 9, 1950 - March 31, 2021
Sadly missing from the streets of Creston this summer will be familiar face of Pat in his beloved 1964 Sunbeam, for more than 25 years as soon as the flowers started showing there would be Pat.
After battling years of heart problems, Pat left us peacefully at the Creston Valley Hospital on March 31 at the age of 70 surrounded by family.
Pat was born in Halifax, NS to Audrey and Eric Mahoney on May 9, 1950. Still a young boy the family hit the road with the plan to cross Canada to Vancouver. Fate was to change that, car trouble had them remain here in Creston, they fell in love with our beautiful valley and there was no looking back.
In 1983 Pat, met Linda, never from the time they met were they apart, they enjoyed a wonderful loving marriage of 35 years.
Pat leaves behind many friends and co-workers, he worked many years for CDSCL making friends easily with staff and clients alike. As people expressed their shock and surprises at his passing you knew the conversation would turn to "I remember one time" and what would follow would be another funny story, you knew if Pat was there the shift would be a good one.
Many may not be aware of his second job, once a year he was proud to dawn his white beard and star in the Christmas parade, later he would greet the lineups of kids waiting for their pictures to be taken at the Tivoll. I wonder in how many homes there are still pictures of Pat from those sessions. He was always warm, compassionate, quick with his wit and determined to be happy, he felt blessed to be living the best life ever, that was Pat.
Pat will be missed by his sisters, Kathy of Cranbrook, Linda of Maple Ridge and Mary in Creston. Also left behind are his son Patrick and his step daughter Christina and her husband John Esler of Creston.
No service will be held at his request. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
