Orah Clara Hagen (nee Harris)

The family of Orah Hagen sadly announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.

Orah passed away peacefully on August 21, 2013 at the Creston Valley Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Orah was born in Medicine Hat, AB to Minnie and Fredrick Harris. Orah was raised on a dairy farm. She attained her teaching certificate from Prairie Bible School in Three Hills, AB. Always up for adventure, Orah started her teaching career in Gordondale, AB. Teaching in a one-room school house. While there, she met the love of her life, Clarence Hagen, who, having just returned from the war, was homesteading.

Orah and Clarence were married in Dawson Creek, BC in 1947 and farmed in Gordondale for over 30 years. Upon retiring they moved to Creston, BC and fully embraced church and community life.


Orah leaves to cherish her memory Clarence, her loving husband of 66 years; her son Lawrence (Karen) and daughter Ruth (Brian Brewster). Orah also leaves five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.


A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gwen Brown and Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.

Interment followed the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, BC.
