September 16, 1955 - June 2, 2022
After a hard-fought battle, Nancy Jean Shearer passed away peacefully at the age of 66 with Wylie, Janet and Rhonda by her side in the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre on Wednesday, June 2, 2022.
Nancy was born in Calgary, AB on September 16, 1955. She graduated from Willow Creek Composite High School in 1973. She spent most of her working life in the financial industry and was dearly loved by the customers who she was always happy to assist. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her coworkers from the Bank of Montreal and Creston and District Credit Union for her 'spunk and sass' as well as her somewhat twisted sense of humour.
Nancy was well known as the "Hostess with the Mostest" and enjoyed preparing delicious food or memorable events for the people she loved. She would spend her Sunday mornings browsing magazines and books for new recipes and was always looking for a reason to make the latest interesting thing she found. Her proudest achievement was becoming a mom in 1989 with the arrival of her only child, Wylie James Shearer.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Gwendolyn and Nelson Norton. She is survived by her son, Wylie; brother James (Pat) Norton; longtime friend Rhonda Cook; in-laws Janet Curle, Ross (Sharon) Shearer; nieces and nephews Kaitlin, Robert, Shauna, Susie, Brad, Brent and Todd; and their children.
At Nancy's request, there will not be a service but an informal get together is planned for Wednesday June 15, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at "The Bridges" Clubhouse in Claresholm, AB. Another will be held in Creston, BC later this summer.
Nancy will be desperately missed by all those she's left behind. Our hearts are broken by this loss, but we are truly grateful she is no longer suffering. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. We all want to say - "Thank you for being my friend..."
