Muriel was born and raised in Ashcroft, BC. She grew up the eldest of three sisters and one brother. She spent two years at Vancouver General Hospital earning her Registered Nurse certificate. It was there she met her husband of over 50 years and in 1949, she married John Guy Browell. Muriel was interested in all people and their lives throughout her lifetime and left behind many cherished friends and family. After her husband's cancer diagnosis in the 80s they decided to drive across Canada and also visit Italy where Muriel's sister's family lives.

Muriel lived in her own home and drove her own car until the time of her illness.

She is survived by her three sisters: Colleen (Frank) and family, Phyllis and family, Verna of Italy and family; her sons Sheldon of Creston and family, and Leroy (LaDonna) of Spokane and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
