December 21, 1949 - March 21, 2025
In loving memory ~
Mavis entered the presence of the Lord on Mar. 21, 2025, at the age of 75 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born December 21, 1949, in Vilna, AB to Edward Donald Whitford and Edith Beatrice Whitford. She moved to Creston, BC in 1965 after the passing of her father. She married Ray Winston Anderson and moved to Kimberley, BC in 1968 where together they raised their family. Mavis worked alongside her husband Ray to develop a successful contracting business. Eventually they built a second home on Kootenay Lake where they enjoyed leisure time with family and friends. At her place in Harrop, Mavis delighted in her time out on the boat fishing or just cruising the lake. She also loved to spend peaceful time at home or in Creston gardening.
Mavis's devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Left to mourn and miss her are her children Ray (Tanya), Ron (Trina), Stacey (Rob), grandchildren Paige (Curtis), Mitchell, Taylor, Donovan, Ryan, Lauren & Kathryn, siblings Lorraine, Edith, Roger (Anne), Donna, Judy, Janice (Cliff), Darlene, Rick (Marilyn) and Adele (Ray) and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins who she cherished as well.
She is predeceased by her husband Ray, parents, and brother Cliff Whitford.
Mavis's legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering support. Her Christian beliefs guided her actions, and she was the cornerstone upon whom her family could always count on. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her endless hugs, sweet treats, and her constant encouraging presence; it was rare for them not to see her face in the stands to cheer them on at any sporting or school event.
Mavis will be remembered for her dedication to family, sense of humor, laughter, smile, honesty, dignity, and integrity of spirit. Her meticulous nature was evident in all she did, especially in her cooking and baking, which brought joy to all who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her or trying one of her delicious desserts.
A small family gathering to celebrate Mavis's life will be held in Creston at a later date.
